Who is
Bryan Chaffin
Bryan Chaffin is the author of the science-fiction thriller Accidental Intelligence, winner of a Silver Medal in the 2026 Readers’ Favorite International Book Award Contest, and a finalist in the Self-Publishing Science Fiction Contest 4.
In an earlier life, he wrote about Apple and technology for 23 years as cofounder and editor-in-chief of The Mac Observer, which he and his business partner sold in 2022. His work has also appeared in MacAddict and MacFormat, and he contributed to, tech edited, and coauthored several For Dummies books.
Bryan lives in Spokane, Washington, with his dog Ichabod, where they both enjoy the fantabulous pastime of THROW THE DAMNED BALL! It’s a hoot. 10 out of 10 stars. Would recommend. Bring treats.
In other news, Bryan loves writing. He loves words. He revels in the power of stories.
Before there were novels, there was music.
Bryan was a member of The Atomic Love Bombs when the band recorded its first CD, Let It Burn, released in 2009. He has continued writing, recording, and playing music over the years, including the solo release “Chains, Skulls, & Butterflies.”
These days, fiction occupies considerably more of his creative time—but the guitars haven’t gone anywhere.
And then there’s everything else.
GeekTells is where Bryan writes about whatever has caught his attention: writing, publishing, technology, music, coffee, books, and occasionally whatever other rabbit hole he’s fallen into.
He also cohosts The Context Machine, a technology podcast, and Working Writers, a podcast about the craft, community, publishing, and business of writing.
There may also be poker. There is usually espresso, drowned in frozen milk.
Who is
Bryan Chaffin
Bryan Chaffin is the cofounder The Mac Observer, which makes him a geek. He’s been writing about Apple, Macs, iPods, iPhones, iPads, and other technology topics since 1997. He has contributed to MacAddict and MacFormat, and he has contributed to, tech edited, and co-authored books with and for the awesome Bob “Dr. Mac” LeVitus. More recently, he completed his first novel, Accidental Intelligence, and is busily shopping it out to agents.
Bryan was a member of The Atomic Love Bombs when the band recorded its first CD, Let It Burn, which was released in 2009. Listen to it, it’s great. He is working on some solo material that may some day be released, but Mason has been sucking up all his time that would have otherwise been dedicated to recording.
Bryan is also a poker enthusiast, which is where the other half of this blog’s name comes from, but you can expect topics to include technology, poker, love, politics, religion, and anything else that crosses his mind.
